Jacks vs. Broncos

     • Back-to-back games stem from the two CCAA members being 'travel partners' - the other league team a member school is linked with of the 12 teams to play the same opponents each conference week but on opposite nights.

     • Travel partners can set up their pair of games when it best fits and this season the HSU and Cal Poly Pomona found consecutive Saturdays were their best option for this season

Season series sweeps prevail

     • Saturday starts the eighth-year of the CCAA series between the two foes

     • Over the first seven season series, there has been five sweeps with HSU claiming five.

     • HSU snapped a four-game losing streak to Cal Poly Pomona last season by taking both ends of the season series - winning 48-45 in Arcata (11/24/12) before taking the contest in Pomona (12/8/12), 68-61.

     • HSU has the longest winning streak in the 14 games by taking the first five contests

Last meeting in Pomona (12/8/12)

     • HSU held an advantage of as many as 14 points, 32-18, on a Jain Tuey three-pointer with 3:33 in the first half.  The visiting Jacks would lead 32-23 at intermission

     • The Broncos tied the game at 38, before the Jacks netted the next eight points and went on for the 68-61 victory.

     • Lisa Petty led HSU with 20 points and 15 rebounds with Kelly Kime having 14 points on six of nine shooting.

Jacks look to change CCAA road opening results

     • The road is never an easy place to have success and life at CCAA venues is no different.  HSU opens its eighth league road season on Saturday where it will look to make it two-straight opening contest road wins.

     • Last November 30, the Jacks prevailed over the Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus, 72-56, to take their CCAA road opener for the first time in three years.

     • Overall, HSU heads into the weekend 2-6 in opening conference road games.

HSU coach Joddie Gleason on Cal Poly Pomona:

"We head down to Southern CA for the first meeting with a very good Cal Poly Pomona team.  They have a balanced attack with some solid post play coupled with shooters than can consistently score from the perimeter.  Having said that, I feel that we match up very well with this CPP team and that it is going to be a game determined by who executes, takes care of the ball and does the little things well.  Things to improve on after last weekend's games:  REBOUNDING!  We must do a better job of finishing defensive possessions with the rebound.  We are giving teams too many second chance opportunities and easy buckets inside.
