ARCATA — Three games back with four to go. There have been some crazy finishes in the homestretch of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schedule in past seasons, but the Jacks will need a perfect finish - and some help - to make it to the postseason tournament.
The Lumberjacks (5-13 CCAA, 9-15 overall) have to get a lot of help to get to the eighth tournament spot for the CCAA tournament. A lot will be decided this weekend when the Jacks play the team just ahead of them in the standings, Sonoma State (6-12), and the team they ultimately have to catch, San Francisco State (8-10).
In order to make the tournament, the Jacks will have to win their last four games while the Gators lose their last four games or Cal Poly Pomona loses its last four games. San Francisco State and Cal Poly Pomona play each other on Friday.
The Jacks play at Sonoma State on Friday and at San Francisco State on Saturday. Both games tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
