PORTLAND, Ore. -- Seven Humboldt State football players were selected to the 43-man Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team Thursday.

Mick Johnson,
Chase Krivashei, Thomas Kupelian,
Alex Markarian,
Taylor Mitchell and
Casey Mintz represented the Lumberjacks on the team. HSU led all GNAC teams with three repeat award winners from last season: Markarian, Mitchell and Mintz.
Thursday's selection marked the third time in a row Markarian has earned GNAC All-Academic Team honors. The senior defensive lineman from Chino Hills, Calif., also leads the GNAC in sacks with 11.5.
Mitchell had one of the three highest GPAs on the team with a 3.90 in business administration. He led the conference with the top GPA on last year's All-Academic Team.
The Jacks host Dixie State Saturday afternoon at the Redwood Bowl. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the senior class will be recognized prior to the game as part of the Senior Day festivities.
