Foster Signs NLI to Join Lumberjack Cross Country

ARCATA, Calif. – One of the California Collegiate Athletic Associations most competitive programs added one of California's top runners Wednesday. Humboldt State cross country Head Coach Scott Pesch announced that Chris Foster (Los Gatos/Los Gatos HS) signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Lumberjacks.

"Chris Foster is definitely a 'program changer' at any school he chooses," said Pesch. "He has proven himself to be a top high school runner in California as he helped lead his team into the championship season. We are very fortunate to add him to our program's list of storied athletes. We hope that his success continues at HSU as both a student and athlete."

Foster is currently ranked No. 1 in California for Division II schools and ranked the state's No. 5 runner overall. He is also ranked No. 1 in the Central Coast Section.

A Los Gatos, Calif., native, Foster is one of the state's most talented runners and finished in first place three consecutive years at the Mount San Antonio College race. As a senior, he completed the extremely competitive 2.93-mile race in 14:40.

Foster's personal records and accomplishments in track & field and cross country are impressive. He earned 3200-meter Central Coast Section Champion (9:20) honors in 2014 and was Central Coast Section Cross Country Champion (15:13) in 2013. Foster's top 5k finish is 15:03, his best 3200-meter race is 9:16 and he ran the mile in 4:18.
