Box Score 2 SAN BERNARDINO – After showing first game power, Humboldt State saw its early season opening run of victories stopped at an even 10.

The Lumberjacks used four home runs including a pair from
Tiffany Hollingsworth to power to an 8-5 first game over the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino. The host Coyotes would laced three extra base hits for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 4-3 late game win.

The second game loss gives HSU (10-1) its first loss of the season and gives each team a 1-1 start in California Collegiate Athletic Association play.

Hollingsworth and
Tonya Walker clubbed four hits apiece for a combined 8-for-14 afternoon to lead the Jacks' offense.

Game 1

The HSU offense wasted no time in getting on track. Walker singled past shortstop and the run production started.

After an out,
Dani Randall singled to join Walker.
Hannah Williams made it three hits in four at bats to plate Walker with the first run. The big blast of the frame came off Hollingsworth's bat in a ball she sent over the left field fence to go ahead, 5-0, after a half inning.

"Girls came out swinging in the first game. We hit the ball hard. We had some clutch hits all through the lineup," said HSU head coach
Shelli Sarchett.

Cal State San Bernardino (6-3) answered the visiting scores right away. Pitcher Cassandra Williams helped her own cause with a bases-clearing double as part of a four-run at bat for a 5-4 total.

In the fifth, Hollingsworth doubled and scored on a
Alison McKibbon RBI single to make it 6-4.

Ahead 6-5 with one out, Hollingsworth and
Sarah Fox connected on back-to-back homers for some insurance runs and an 8-5 score.

HSU's
Katie Obbema held Cal State San Bernardino off the scoreboard in the home seventh to complete the win. Obbema ran her mark to a perfect 6-0 by allowing six hits and five runs in the complete game.

Hollingsworth totaled four RBI and three runs scored on her two home runs and a double.

McKibbon homered and singled with two RBI. Walker and
Miranda Romero lined a pair of hits each.
Game 2

With no score in the top of the second, the Jacks put the first runs on the board in the late contest. After two outs, Romero,
Andrea Chavez and Walker produced three singles in a row for the first score.
Darian Harris stepped in and lined the fourth single, a two-run scoring one, to open a 3-0 lead.

Working her way back into pitching shape, HSU's
Liz Perez held the CSU San Bernardino scoreless on five hits over the first six innings.

The last out of the game proved to be a difficult task to accomplish for the visitors.

Following a leadoff Coyotes home run, Perez enticed two fly outs, before hitting the next home batter. The hit batter turned out to be costly as CSU San Bernardino blasted back-to-back doubles to tie the game, before a single, the fourth hit of the at bat, drove home game-winning run, 4-3.

"We had trouble adjusting the second game. We came out firing, but then we settled. We have to keep playing hard and pushing for seven innings," explained Sarchett. "I blame myself. I should have made a change and I didn't. Lesson learned. Liz threw well today and we should of finished it out for her."

HSU did not take advantage of its nine hits, but more importantly left 10 base runners on base.

Harris and Walker produced a pair of singles at the HSU plate.

The CCAA league members will take the field for the second twinbill of the weekend with an 11 a.m. first pitch on Saturday morning.
