FULL GAME NOTES

ARCATA, Calif. – In the final first-half California Collegiate Athletic Association weekend, Humboldt State women's basketball will have its toughest road trip of the season.

The Lumberjacks need to hit on all cylinders to extend their 13-game winning streak. HSU opens this weekend against defending CCAA champion and Final Four member Cal Poly Pomona and wraps up the two-night contests at UC San Diego. Both games tip at 5:30 p.m.

"This will be our toughest road trip. We play two good teams, who are used to winning, tough places to play and both teams have great players," said Head Coach Joddie Gleason.

The southern California trip begins against the defending CCAA champion Broncos Friday night.

"Cal Poly Pomona is the defending champion. They went to the Final Four last season and have just about everyone back, so they have that experience. They don't get rattled. They are collected and calm all the time," said Gleason. "We were up on them in both games last year and they came back with ease it seemed."

Another traditional West Region power, UC San Diego will host HSU Saturday evening.

"Farrah Shokoor is very good. UC San Diego is a very deep team," said Gleason. "These are two teams that are going to vie for the championship in the end."

SET TO CONTINUE LONGEST-WINNING RUN
After recording its sixth and seventh home wins in a row, HSU ran its winning run to 13 games.

In Head Coach Joddie Gleason's 11 years, her team's current 13-game win streak is not only the longest of her tenure, but ties for the longest in program history. The 1993-94 team recorded 13 wins in a row from its 14th game through the 26th contest, the first game of the North Coast Athletic Conference playoffs.

WINNERS OF LAST 14 CCAA MATCHUPS
Dating back to the last two 2013-14 league weekends, the Jacks won their last 14 CCAA matchups.

In the end of last season, HSU won its last four conference games – at home over Cal State Los Angeles and Cal State Dominguez Hills, and at Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus. The Jacks claimed their first 10 CCAA games to begin this season to make it 14 wins in a row.

The HSU program's longest CCAA win streak was 15 games  – the final eight games of 2008-09 and the first seven games of 2009-10.

ADD TO ROAD RUN
Along with its 13-game overall winning streak, HSU has recorded six victories in a row away from Lumberjack Arena.

The Jacks are 6-1 on the road with their lone defeat in the second game of the year at No. 8 Seattle Pacific in overtime on Nov. 15.

JACKS JUMP INTO NATIONAL TOP 25
For the first time in recent years, HSU is ranked in the latest USA TODAY DII Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Jacks find themselves No. 25 as they gained more than doubled last week's points to 137. HSU was the third-highest point getter (59 points) of the Others Receiving Votes teams.

Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal Poly Pomona and UC San Diego were in the Others Receiving Votes schools with seven, five, four and four points.

In the inaugural D2SIDA Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, HSU rose four spots to No. 17 from No. 21 last week.

SEEK MORE SUCCESS IN SO. CAL
HSU seeks more success in its southern California trip this week. The Jacks hold a combined 7-9 record playing at Cal Poly Pomona and UC San Diego over the past eight seasons.

HSU looks to end its two-game losing streak against Cal Poly Pomona. The Broncos registered a close 70-65 win over the Jacks on Dec. 14, 2013. The Jacks are an even 4-4 in Kellogg Gym. The North Coast team claimed a 68-61 win two seasons ago (Dec. 8, 2012). The two CCAA members are 8-8 versus one another in 16 meetings.

In RIMAC Arena, HSU improved to 3-5 after pulling off a 63-50 upset of UC San Diego last Feb. 1, 2014. The two teams won on each other's home floor last year. Overall, the Tritons hold a slight 12-9 lead in the series, but the Jacks won both the CCAA and NCAA playoff meetings.

SHIN HAS HOT-SHOOTING HOME GAMES
Jae Shin led the Jacks' charge with a pair of hot-shooting home games last weekend.

Shin averaged 19.5 points per game on 13-of-20 shots and 8-for-13 from 3-point range in the team's two victories over Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay.

Against Cal State East Bay, the senior hit 6-of-12 attempts and 4-of-9 treys for a team-high 18 points in the 68-66 HSU win.

The shooting guard followed the first performance with an even better one. Shin dropped 7-of-8 shots through the net and all four of her 3-point attempts for her second-best point total of 20 versus the Otters.

Over the last four games, the tri-captain has a 15.8-point average. She has made 15-of-28 treys for a 53.6 percent clip.

Coach Gleason on the Broncos – "(Jada) Blackwell and (Ariel) Marsh are two prolific scorers and two of the best (players) in the league. Having them both on the same team, it makes it tough. (Cal Poly) Pomona is deep. They have five or six players who can go off on every single night."
