ARCATA, Calif. - The Lumberjacks found their rhythm early from long distance and connected on 14 3-pointers en route to their second conference win. Humboldt State men's basketball sank Sonoma State 77-62 Friday in Lumberjack Arena.
With the win, the Green and Gold improved to 6-0 at home. HSU is now 6-1 overall and 2-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. The Seawolves fell to 5-4 overall and 0-3 in conference.
"When we play assist basketball then it really shows of our offensive weaponry," said Head Coach
Steve Kinder. "Our play on the defensive side really energized our offense. The team is listening to the coaching staff, respecting each other and communicating well."

Tyras Rattler was the Jacks' leading scorer and netted a career-high 19 points against the Seawolves. The only other scorer in double figures for HSU was senior
Rakim Brown, and he contributed 18 points and a team-best eight rebounds.
Both teams traded baskets for the first eight minutes, but a 12-2 run sparked by a Rattler trey turned the momentum in the Jacks' direction. HSU led 29-13 at the end of the stretch.
The Seawolves trimmed the lead to six, 39-33, at the break.
HSU sank 10 first-half 3-pointers in the opening half and shot 48.1 percent from the field. Rattler scored 11 of his points in the first 20 minutes.
The Jacks finished the game with authority. HSU dialed up its shooting percentage to 53.8 percent and scored 38 points in the last half.
HSU will not have an opportunity to enjoy its win as it returns to action versus SF State Saturday evening in Lumberjack Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
"Conference games mean a lot," said freshman
Nikhil Lizotte. "I never realized how big these games were, and now I know how much conference games mean to our team. I am just going out and playing hard for me and these seniors."
