Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tritons Edge Men’s Soccer in OT

LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego defeated Humboldt State men's soccer 1-0 in overtime Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops HSU to 3-6-1 overall and 1-5 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. With the win UC San Diego improves to 7-1-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play.

"Today was a great response from our guys after the frustration of Friday," said head coach Fred Jungemann. "We played well today and, at times, played some of the best soccer we've played all year. San Diego is a very good team and, in the end, you would have to say this result is probably fair."

UC San Diego outshot HSU 29-5 in the game. Even with this large margin, the Jacks shutout the Tritons through regulation. HSU goalkeeper Christopher Cherms finished the game with seven saves.

The Tritons finally found success in the 97th minute when Sam Plano found Riley Harbour for the game-winning goal.

HSU returns home for more conference action next weekend when they take on San Francisco State (Friday, Oct. 14) and Cal State Monterey Bay (Sunday, Oct. 16).
