ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State men's soccer finished its 2016 campaign with a 1-0 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday afternoon at College Creek Field.
The game marked the final appearance for the Lumberjacks sole senior,
Trice Smith.
With the loss, HSU finishes with a 4-11-1 overall record and a 2-10-0 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association action, while Cal State Dominguez Hills improves to 10-7-1 overall and 7-5-0 in the CCAA.
The Toros outshot the Jacks 13-9, including a 7-4 advantage in the opening half. HSU held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks earned but also was caught offsides one more time than the Toros.
After a scoreless first half, the Toros scored the lone goal of the game in the 74th minute when Emmanuel Cornoa headed in an Angel Ayala cross at the far post. Despite a furious Lumberjack attack in the final minutes, CSU Dominguez Hills was able to hold on for the victory.

Isaiah Dairo and Korey Gilmore each fired three shots to lead the Lumberjacks offense. In the nets,
Christopher Cherms notched a game high six saves in the loss.
