LOS ANGELES – Humboldt State men's basketball saw its 17-point halftime lead vanish with a sloppy second-half effort in Friday's 85-82 loss to Cal State Los Angeles.

A blistering first-half shooting performance put the Lumberjacks in the driver's seat. HSU went on a 19-7 run in the final seven minutes of the half to give the North Coast team a 54-37 lead at intermission. The Jacks shot 51.2 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.

Calvin Young II led the Green and Gold scorers with 16 and 14 points, respectively.
HSU increased its lead to a game-high, 18-point advantage with just under 17 minutes left in the game.
The Golden Eagles (4-4, 1-0 CCAA) dominated the second half. Cal State Los Angeles shot 52.9 percent from the floor, and Jordan Wilson led the way with 15 of his team-high 30 points in the final 20 minutes of play.
Young set career highs with 24 points and 16 boards, and he notched his first double-double of the season at the half. Lizotte finished with 23 points on 8-of-20 shooting, and the Yakima, Wash., native connected on five 3-pointers.
The Green and Gold never caught fire from outside the arc and shot a season-low 28 percent from 3-point range. HSU was 13-of-26 (50 percent) at the free-throw line and missed four pivotal free throws in the final two minutes.
