ARCATA, Calif. –
Humboldt State women's basketball concludes its five-game road trip with a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association games. The Lumberjacks travel to Chico State for a Friday game before taking on Stanislaus State on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on both nights.

The Lumberjacks (1-7, 0-2 CCAA) dropped a 77-68 decision to Cal State Los Angeles last Friday.

"The bottom line with Cal State LA is we weren't mentally ready," said Head Coach Michelle Bento-Jackson. "We gave up a lot of points in transition and there are a lot of areas we did not perform well in."

Chico State (5-3, 0-2 CCAA) enters the week coming off a 63-61 loss to Cal State San Marcos. The Wildcats are led offensively by Whitney Branham, the CCAA's leading scorer with 17.0 points per game, while Natalie Valenzuela (11.1) and Jo Paine (10.0) also average in double figures. Valenzuela also leads the CCAA in blocks with 2.4 per game.

Chico leads the all-time series with HSU 62-24, but the Jacks swept both games against the Wildcats last season.

"Chico State has very good guards on the perimeter," said Bento-Jackson. "They also have an inside presence. Once again the focus is more on us."

Saturday, the Green and Gold travel to Turlock to face Stanislaus State. The Warriors (3-6, 1-0 CCAA) host Cal State Monterey Bay Friday, and they picked up a 66-53 victory against Cal State Dominguez Hills last Saturday. HSU holds a 36-30 advantage in the all-time series with Stanislaus, but the Jacks have not picked up a win against the Warriors since the 2014-15 season.

The Warriors feature a balanced offense with Reana Hardin (11.9 points per game), Ana Burch (11.4) and Cassidy Sanders-Curry (9.3) all averaging over nine points per game.  Stanislaus State also averages 10 steals per game and are led by Ana Burch (2.6) and Riley Holiday (1.8).

The Jacks return home for a final non-conference matchup before the winter holiday. The Green and Gold will face Western Oregon on Saturday, December 17. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
