ARCATA, Calif. – On National Signing Day, 19 student-athletes have signed and submitted their paperwork to join the Humboldt State football team in the fall. Coach Rob Smith has also added two additional linemen who began classes at HSU earlier this semester to the roster, as well as three admitted athletes for the fall. Three have since been added in the signing period.
 
"We're just excited!" said Smith. "This is the culmination to a lot of work. Credit goes to my assistant coaches who really have beat the bushes out there to put this group together. We feel very good and very excited about this group of incoming players."
 
Three of the 25 players are transfers, with the remaining 22 joining as true freshman.

"We think it is a well-rounded group," said Smith. "This is a group with a lot of speed, that will help in the defensive secondary, which is an area we needed to bolster with our losses due to graduation. Overall, this is a great group of kids and it's great talking to them and hearing their excitement about their future at Humboldt State."
 
The football staff has added players both locally and throughout the state of California, as well as one player from Washington.

"There will be some certainly that will come in and play, there is a lot of quality in this group." said Smith. "Some positions may be a little thinner than others and that may allow some earlier opportunities. We think it is a solid class from top to bottom, and we are really excited for what they will bring to our program here at Humboldt."
