DENVER – Humboldt State's "Hunt for Three" continues this week at the Regency Athletic Complex, home of the NCAA Division II Softball National Championships. The North Coast team is focused on its Tuesday meeting with Armstrong State. First pitch scheduled for 1:30 p.m. PT.
The eight programs that represent the National Championship field have reached the title tournament a combined 11 times, and the Green and Gold have made six of those 11 trips.
HSU is 1-1 all-time versus Armstrong State, formerly Armstrong Atlantic. The Pirates were responsible for eliminating the Jacks from their last National Championship appearance during the 2013 campaign. Armstrong State emerged from a fiercely competitive Southeast Region, which featured reigning National Champion North Georgia.
The Jacks have been enjoying their experience in the Mile High City. The squad visited Sports Authority Field at Mile High Monday evening for the NCAA DII Festival Opening Ceremonies that included a multimedia presentation, team dinner and fireworks show.
"The team is really soaking up this experience and just living in the moment," said Head Coach
Shelli Sarchett. "We've seen Armstrong before, and they are a team that won't quit. We have to keep them off balance, go out and play our game. If we go out there and play our type of game, we'll be just fine."
