ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State football hits the road this weekend and travels to face Chadron State Saturday for the first time in program history. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. PT.
The Lumberjacks dropped their second straight home game last week and moved to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action. HSU rallied from a 23-point first quarter deficit and had an opportunity to win on the game's final drive in the 48-42 loss to Western Oregon.
A road trip might be just what the Green and Gold need as they have a 2-0 mark away from Redwood Bowl this season. The Jacks have road wins over Carson-Newman and Simon Fraser. HSU has won five consecutive regular season road games dating back to last year.
Chadron State is riding a three-game losing streak and lost to Adams State 31-30 a week ago. The Eagles (1-3) lost their last game despite leading 16-0 at the end of the first quarter. A missed field goal from 24 yards out with seven seconds remaining saddled the Eagles with their third straight loss.
Injuries continue to challenge HSU's depth.
Chase Krivashei,
Dylan Zuverink and
John Todd will not be available at the receiver position, and the Jacks will start true freshman
Nick Sexton. Running back
Richard Doctor has made a successful transition to receiver and has eight receptions in the last two games for 87 yards and two touchdowns.
