Men’s Soccer Stumbles Against San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos defeated Humboldt State men's soccer 5-0 Friday afternoon.

The loss drops HSU to 3-4-1 overall and to 1-4 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. With the win, San Marcos improves to 3-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference action.

"Today was a rough day at the office for our guys," said head coach Fred Jungemann. "We made a few mistakes early and then had to change our plans to chase the game. San Marcos played a great game today and deserved the result. All we can do now is put this behind us and regroup for Sunday."

The Cougars got on the board early when Bryan Morrison found the back of the net two minutes into the contest. San Marcos struck again in the 18th minute and took a 2-0 advantage into halftime.

San Marcos added three more goals in the second half en route to the conference victory. The Cougars outshot the Jacks 11-4 and all five goals scored in the match came from different players.

HSU looks to bounce back when it faces UC San Diego Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
