ARCATA, Calif. – Following a home victory against Stanislaus State, Humboldt State women's basketball travels to Hayward, Calif., Friday to face Cal State East Bay. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Lumberjacks led for a majority of Saturday's 73-65 win over Stanislaus State. Catharine Rees had a career-best performance with 26 points and eight 3-pointers against the Warriors. Her eight 3-pointers matched a single-game program record. Rees has scored 20 or more points three times this season and twice in the last four games.

East Bay heads into the weekend with three consecutive victories. Shomari Harris is the Pioneers' top offensive playmaker, and she leads the California Collegiate Athletic Association with 17.2 points per game. Harris had a total of 59 points last weekend en route to conference player of the week honors.

SERIES BREAKDOWN
East Bay leads the all-time series 36-29 and defeated HSU in the early season meeting 79-71 in Lumberjack Arena. The Jacks haven't defeated the Pioneers since the 2014-15 season.

COACHES CORNER
On key to recent successes
"We are executing scouts more efficiently than we were earlier in the year," said Head Coach Bento-Jackson. "In general, I really think it is just a result of our team growing and maturing."

On challenge of back-to-back games
"It is definitely going to be challenging, but it is nothing we can't handle," said Bento-Jackson. "I will prepare my team to the best of my abilities, not only just in the game, but getting their minds ready for travel and the short turnaround from East Bay to Monterey Bay. We have gone through this before, and it will just be another test for us."

On East Bay
"We are definitely making some adjustments from what we did the first time we played East Bay," Said Bento-Jackson. "During yesterday's practice we just focused on ourselves, just things that we need to do generally as far as our defensive principles. That's really been our main focus. In fact, that was probably the one thing I was most proud of in the game against Stanislaus the other night."

On Shomari Harris
"Shomari is a phenomenal player, and she is coming off a terrific weekend," said Bento-Jackson. "She has a great balance between scoring and getting her teammates involved. I don't know if there is a way to shut her down, but we certainly want to make her shots tough ones. She is going to be a tough guard, and we have to do a solid job on her. However, I thought we did a pretty good job on her last time, I think we held her to eight points, but many other players contributed a lot for East Bay. So it's not just Shomari. They do have good balance and we just have to have a good solid core defense."
