ARCATA, Calif. – Rival Chico State visited Lumberjack Arena and dealt the Humboldt State volleyball team a 3-0 loss Saturday night.

HSU's offense struggled as the team dropped its fifth consecutive match. The home team moved to 3-15 and 2-10 in conference play following the loss.

Chico State and HSU wrestled for the lead throughout the first set, but the visitors used a 7-0 run to close out a 25-19 win.

In the second frame the Wildcats made a late surge to take a commanding 2-0 advantage. Chico State capitalized on seven HSU attack errors and scored five of the final six points en route to a 25-17 victory.

HSU ran out of gas in the final set. A kill by Anita Eichenour knotted the game at 4-4 before the Wildcats scored nine straight points to take a 13-4 lead. Chico State won the third frame 25-11, and the visitors ended the set with six consecutive points.

Eichenour finished the match with a team-high seven kills for the Green and Gold.

The Jacks travel for a rematch with the Wildcats on Friday, Nov. 3.
