ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State men's basketball team will look to snap a three-game slide when it hosts Stanislaus State Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.

Back-to-back road weekends didn't help the Jacks as they attempted to build momentum following a home win versus Simpson. HSU lost to Cal State San Bernardino, Monterey Bay and Pomona, but proved they could hang with some of the conference's top teams.

'We did a nice job at Monterey Bay staying in the game, and we had a lot of opportunities to win the basketball game," said Head Coach Steve Kinder. "We have taken a lot of time on video tape this week. I think our team will benefit this week from watching film, and not only reviewing game tape but practice tape."

The friendly confines of Lumberjack Arena have provided the conference's best home-court advantage and that tradition continues as the Green and Gold are 2-1 in games played on the North Coast. HSU suffered a 76-72 setback at home last season versus the Warriors, a loss that snapped a string of 13 consecutive home victories against their California Collegiate Athletic Association rival. Each of HSU's six December games will be played at home.

"It's going to be refreshing to unpack our bags," said Kinder. "We have a great fan base and I am sure they will be excited to watch us over the homestand."

Stanislaus State picked up wins over Sonoma State and Cal State LA last weekend and improved its record to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in conference. Newcomer Ty Davis has made an instant impact for the Warriors at the guard position and the Baton Rouge, La., native leads the team with 32 assists and ranks second with 11.1 points per game.

"They have some great victories under their belt, and they are a program that continues to improve every year," said Kinder. "They have some very nice  athletes and play a tough matchup defense, which is quite popular in our conference. To get  the right players in the right position to score effectively against that defense is our biggest challenge."
