Tyler Green wasn't enough as Humboldt State men's basketball closed out the regular season with a home loss, 88-74, to San Francisco State.
Despite Saturday's loss, the Lumberjacks clinched a berth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament. HSU will travel to face No. 1 seed UC San Diego Tuesday in RIMAC Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Gators closed out the first half on a 15-6 run and led 37-32 at the break. HSU shot 37.1 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, and Green was the Jacks' top scorer with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range.
SF State began the second half on an 8-0 run and never looked back. The Gators increased their lead to a game-high 22 points with 12:34 to go. Warren Jackson led all scorers with 35 points, and he scored 22 in the second half.
Green continued to sink long-range jumpers after intermission. He finished the game with eight treys, two shy of matching Issac Gildea's single-game record of 10.
Calvin Young II led the Green and Gold with 11 rebounds and five blocks to go with nine points, while
Colin Caslick contributed 15 points off the bench. Caslick was 6-of-9 shooting, and he scored 10 points in the final 20 minutes.
