PORTLAND, Ore. – Humboldt State football was picked to finish third behind defending Great Northwest Athletic Conference champion Azusa Pacific and Central Washington in the preseason coaches poll released Wednesday.
 
HSU returns a majority of its high-powered offense, including senior All-Americans Alex Cappa and Ja'Quan Gardner. Following a medical redshirt season that saw him limited to just three games, senior receiver Chase Krivashei will join the 10 returning players on the offensive side of the ball. The defense led by linebackers Jeff Shott, Curtis Williams and Connor Cox will provide the backbone of a unit with just six returning starters.
 
Western Oregon and Simon Fraser were tabbed to finish fourth and fifth, respectively, in the preseason rankings.
