ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State volleyball team returns to Lumberjack Arena after five consecutive road matches. The Lumberjacks host Cal State East Bay Thursday at 5 p.m. and San Francisco State Saturday at 7 p.m.

HSU's three seniors will be recognized prior to Saturday's match versus the Gators. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and celebrate the careers of the Green and Gold senior class.

"We have three really outstanding seniors, cumulatively three of the most unselfish, hard-working and positive groups I have had," said Head Coach Kelly Wood. "They have handled this season really well and have been good role models on and off the court."

Saturday's 3-1 road loss against Chico State provided some encouragement to a talented squad during a difficult season. HSU won its first set since early September and played a competitive match against the rival Wildcats. Hannah Cantrell provided seven kills to go with her .211 hitting percentage, while Savannah Horton recorded seven block assists and two solo stops.

"I think that finally showing the ability to complete a set, to finish, lifted our confidence," said HSU Head Coach Kelly Wood. "We have been in several matches where we started out competitive and then struggled. A lot of those sets we're losing we are beating ourselves. We need to keep addressing it and try to find a way to get over that hump."

The Jacks lost their previous meetings with East Bay and SF State and both programs look like locks for the conference tournament. The Pioneers are 13-11 overall and have struggled on the road with a 3-7 mark. East Bay topped Monterey Bay in five sets on the Pioneers' Senior Night. The Gators have won back-to-back matches and have a 12-11 overall record.
