Four Games in Four Days Upcoming for Men’s Basketball

| By:
ARCATA, Calif. – A demanding stretch of four games in four days awaits the Humboldt State men's basketball team as it travels to Burnaby, B.C. The Lumberjacks will face Simon Fraser Friday and Western Washington Saturday followed by a pair of Canadian colleges on Sunday and Monday.

"With three NCAA Division I opponents on the road and one home game in our back pocket, we have experienced the challenges of college basketball in early November," said HSU Head Coach Steve Kinder. "Our plan is the big picture. We are using a process that involves a daily, step-by-step grind, to improve our performances."

Three exhibition games against Fresno State, North Texas and the University of Hawaii to tip off the 2018-19 campaign tested the Green and Gold's toughness, and also prepared them for a grueling conference slate. HSU got in the win column Tuesday night versus Pacific Union. Senior Justin Everett's 30-point performance helped the Jacks roll past the visiting Pioneers by a score of 107-87.

This weekend's schedule begins with host Simon Fraser. The Clan is 0-2 after facing California Collegiate Athletic Association opponents UC San Diego and Cal State Dominguez Hills. Simon Fraser lost by 15 points against the Tritons and lost in the closing minutes to the Toros, 67-64. Junior guard Othniel Spence exploded for a team-high 24 points and knocked down five treys versus UC San Diego, but came up empty from long range in The Clan's next outing.

Western Washington began the season ranked 14th in the National Association of Basketball Coaches preseason poll and is off to a 1-1 start. Reigning Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week Trevor Jasinsky scored 55 points in two games. The 6-7 forward scored 32 points against Dominguez Hills and 23 versus UC San Diego.

HSU will be facing Douglas College and Capilano College for the first time in program history.
