ARCATA, Calif. –
Humboldt State men's basketball continues its string of road games with a SoCal road swing this weekend. The Lumberjacks visit Cal State San Marcos Thursday followed by Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday.

The Green and Gold face their fifth and sixth consecutive road games this weekend as they continue their challenging road schedule. HSU is 3-3 overall and 0-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play after last week's 69-66 loss at Sonoma State. The Jacks bounced back from a disappointing first half that saw the North Coast squad trail by as many as 18 points to have a chance for victory in the game's closing minute. Senior Justin Everett has been the team's leader through the early going and is averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

"I thought we did a great job showing some character and toughness down the stretch," said HSU Head Coach Steve Kinder. "We certainly had chances to win the game and Sonoma did a great job holding on for the win."

Thursday's game will pit the Green and Gold against the talented Cougars team that is off to a slow start. San Marcos is 2-4 overall and 0-1 against conference opposition. The Cougars got thumped in their last outing, a 29-point loss at Cal State East Bay. Khalil Fuller, a transfer from Division I North Texas, has made a big impact in his first season in San Marcos. Fuller leads the team averaging 18.3 points per game and is shooting 52.8 percent from the field.

HSU will visit Coussoulis Arena on Saturday night and face the Coyotes. San Bernardino has a 3-2 record and dropped its conference opener at UC San Diego by 34 points. Four Coyotes registered double-digit scoring efforts in the team's last game, a seven-point victory over West Region foe Seattle Pacific. Guards Naradain James (21) and Garrett Baggett (23) turned in high-scoring performances in the Saturday's win versus the Falcons.

The Jacks split last season's series with San Marcos with each team winning on the road and went 0-2 against San Bernardino.
