ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State women's basketball team clinched a spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament last week, but will look to lock down a home playoff game this weekend. HSU hosts Cal State San Marcos Thursday and UC San Diego Saturday in Lumberjack Arena.

Thursday's game will be a Play4Kay promotion and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness, while Saturday's game will be senior night. The seven members of HSU's senior class will be honored prior to tipoff of Saturday's meeting with the Tritons. Both games tip at 5:30 p.m.

"I am trying to put the focus on us this week and make sure we understand the magnitude of these games," said Head Coach Michelle Bento-Jackson. "We are focused on San Marcos and we aren't looking ahead to San Diego."

HSU lost a close game, 51-50, at Stanislaus State last weekend. Isamar Conde turned in a 21-point, seven-rebound performance versus the Warriors, but the Jacks shot 27.5 percent from the field, its worst shooting percentage since mid November. In fact, Conde had a chance at the game-winning basket as time expired in the overtime period.

San Marcos enters Thursday's game riding a four-game losing streak. The Cougars are 2-8 on the road this season and edged the Green and Gold, 67-63, in their Jan. 6 meeting. Savannah Camp is the Cougars' leading scorer and is averaging 18.2 points per game, which ranks second in the CCAA behind Whitney Branham (18.6).

Saturday's game will pit HSU against the conference-leading Tritons. UC San Diego has won six straight and has compiled a 21-3 overall record. Dalayna Sampton has likely earned herself Player of the Year honors with an impressive statline of 14.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Sampton had 22 points and nine boards the last time she faced HSU.
