Softball Faces Rival Otters this Weekend

| By:
ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State softball team travels to Seaside for its first action in nearly two weeks as they face Cal State Monterey Bay in a four-game series beginning this Saturday. First pitch for Saturday's series opener is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The series schedule has been adjusted due to an inclement weather forecast. Friday's games have been shifted to Sunday with game one of the twinbill scheduled for 11 a.m.

"We had last weekend off which gave us a chance to regroup," said Head Coach Shelli Sarchett.  "We had a really good practice where we set specific goals and learned to stay relaxed in the moment and hopefully we take that into Monterey Bay. Monterey Bay is one of our rivals and these games always have a little extra meaning to them, so we're using that hopefully to hype us up and to get us into attack mode and carry that into the rest of the season."

The Otters head into the series at 11-12 in CCAA play after splitting last weekend's series with Cal State San Bernardino. Monterey Bay's Haley Fein, last year's CCAA Freshman of the Year, has a 13-9 record in the circle and is hitting .295 this season.

The Lumberjacks are currently fifth place in the conference with a 10-8 record in league play. The top four teams will qualify for the CCAA tournament. Junior outfielder Hanna Holland is 11 stolen bases away from breaking HSU's all-time record. Holland has swiped 135 bases in her career.
