Volleyball Hosts Sonoma State Friday

| By:
ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State women's volleyball hosts Sonoma State in a California Collegiate Athletic Association matchup Friday at 5 p.m. in Lumberjack Arena. The Lumberjacks aim to snap their four-game losing streak.

"We are familiar with them, and we know what their strengths are," said Head Coach Kelly Wood. "We know the system they run, and we know what to expect from them this weekend. I think it is an advantage to have played them and to be as familiar as we are with this team. The one match we played at home we had such a great crowd, so playing at home will be an advantage for us as well. We had a lot of support. It was loud, it was fun and the girls are excited to get back into that atmosphere this weekend."

The Jacks currently stand with a record of 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the CCAA. HSU is coming off a pair of road losses at San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona. HSU's Natalie Picone leads the team with 197 digs while Emma Flewell ranks ninth in the CCAA with 31 blocks.

The Seawolves currently sit second (6-7, 2-2 CCAA) in the North Division standings. Sonoma State, HSU's travel partner, also lost road matches to Pomona and San Bernardino. Defensive specialist Megan Bohorquez is the CCAA leader with 251 digs.

HSU aims to win their first match against Sonoma State since 2014.
