Men’s Soccer Falls to Dominguez Hills

CARSON, Calif. – The Humboldt State men's soccer team surrendered a first half goal and was unable to recover as it dropped Sunday afternoon's match to Cal State Dominguez Hills 1-0.

The Toros were the more efficient offensive team in the first half outshooting HSU 10-2. Midfielder George Almeida possessed the ball in the box drawing the attention of the Lumberjack defenders before dumping it off to forward Richard Recinos who turned and sent a shot into the left corner giving Dominguez Hills the 1-0 lead at the 32:14 mark.

HSU's defense committed 17 second half fouls, and the aggressive play led to freshman Devin Hauenstein being shown a red card in the 85th minute. Dominguez Hills goalkeeper Justin Fairchild earned his second shutout of the season.

The Lumberjacks will look to capture their first conference win Friday, Sept. 28 on the road against Cal State San Marcos at 3 p.m.
