ARCATA, Calif. — Following four consecutive victories, the Humboldt State men's basketball team will travel to the Bay Area this week to face a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association opponents.

The road trip begins Thursday against Cal State East Bay at 7:30 p.m. and will wrap up Saturday as the North Coast squad takes on Cal State Monterey Bay with tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Lumberjacks (13-5, 7-3 CCAA) kept their perfect home record alive last week as the streak improved to nine straight with victories over Cal State Los Angeles and Cal State Dominguez Hills. Senior forward Justin Everett was named the CCAA Player of the Week for averaging 16.5 points and seven boards over the two games. Everett's average of 16.7 points per game is the highest in the conference, and he leads the CCAA's most potent offense as the Green and Gold average nearly 84 points per game.

"We did a nice job battling to protect our home court once again this past weekend," said Head Coach Steve Kinder. "We are preparing to head back out on the road and play a very good Cal State East Bay team this Thursday. They resemble our basketball team – balanced, athletic, and they execute defensively against their opponents. They have depth in every position and will pose a challenge to defend them for 40 minutes. Our focus will be how well we can play on the defensive end of the floor."

East Bay enters the meeting after a loss to Cal Poly Pomona last week and a win over Cal State San Bernardino, 82-79, this past Saturday. The Pioneers sit at 13-3 overall and their 8-2 CCAA record is good enough for second in the conference trailing only UC San Diego. East Bay looks to limit HSU's explosive offense with its defensive pressure that has held opponents to just 64.7 points per game. The Pioneers have also found success within the friendly confines of Pioneer Gymnasium going 7-0 at home.

Cal State Monterey Bay still seeks its first victory of the year after a 0-15 start. Junior guard Jahvon Johnson will look to get the Otters going offensively as he leads the team with 12.5 points and 3.0 assists a game. Monterey Bay and Humboldt State met twice last season, and the teams split the series.
