ARCATA, Calif.--- Lenox Loving recorded her fourth straight match with double digits in kills, but the Humboldt State Lumberjacks lost in three sets (17-25, 18-25, 21-25) to the visiting UC San Diego Trtions at Lumberjack Arena. Loving had a team high 10 kills to go with her eight digs on the evening.
Juliana Bertolucci added 25 assists and
Odelia Ryan recorded 12 digs for HSU.
Summer Hansen had a team high four total blocks.
SET ONE: The first set went back and forth to start the match. Humboldt State took a 7-6 lead on a kill by
Emma Flewell. The Tritons recorded the next five straight points to take a 11-7 lead. UC San Diego (14-7, 8-5 CCAA) increased its lead to 19-11 on a kill by Emil Hubbard. Humboldt State did not go away as the Lumberjacks cut the deficit to 21-16 on a kill by
Lexi Riggs. UC San Diego finished the set off scoring four of the final five points to take the set 25-17.
SET TWO: The visitors took a 14-7 lead in the second set, but HSU scored three of the next four points capped by a
Odelia Ryan service ace. The Tritons increased their lead to 23-15 on a kill by Sydney Tekstra. A block by
Summer Hansen cut HSU's deficit to 24-18, but UCSD finished the set off on a kill by Gina Cortesi.
SET THREE: Humboldt State (5-13, 1-10 CCAA) came out strong in the third set and took a 7-3 lead on kill by Loving. UC San Diego cut the Lumberjack lead to 14-12. The Tritons took a 16-15 lead and never looked back as they took the third set 25-21.
