ARCATA, Calif..--- Humboldt State outscored the visiting Antelope Valley Pioneers 49-36 in the second half to key the Lumberjacks' 91-85 win in their home opener.
RaySean Scott Jr. paced the Lumberjack with a game high 25 points and 9 rebounds.
Zachariah Christian chipped in 19 points as did
Jackson Strong.
Leland Green added 14 points for the hosts, who improve to 2-1 on the season.

FIRST HALF: A jumper by
Zachariah Christian capped a 12-5 run to start the game for Humboldt State (2-1). The Antelopes, playing in an exhibition game, outscored the Lumberjacks 26-16 in the next five minutes to take a 31-28 lead on a three by Marc Carera. Humboldt State followed that with a 6-0 run capped by a lay-up by
RaySean Scott Jr. A made free throw gave the Pioneers a 44-38 lead with just 2:41 left in the half. The Pioneers finished the half outscoring HSU 5-4 to take a 49-42 lead into the locker room.
SECOND HALF: A lay-up by Scott cut the Pioneer deficit to 52-20 just five minutes into the new half. A rare four-point play by Ronnie Rousseau III gave Antelope Valley a 58-50 lead at the 14:13 mark of the second half. Two made free throws by
Zachariah Christian capped 15-6 run by the 'Jacks as the hosts took a 65-64 lead. They increased their lead to 70-67 on two made free throws by
Jackson Strong. With five minutes left in regulation, HSU increased its lead to 82-77 on a dunk by Scott off an assist from Strong. Antelope Valley didn't go away as the Pioneers cut the 'Jack lead to 82-81 with just 4:20 left in the game. A three by
Leland Green off an assist from
Gabrys Sadaunykas increased HSU's lead to 89-81 with a little under three minutes left in the game. A lay-up by Christian sealed the win for the 'Jacks as they took the game 91-85.

RaySean Scott Jr. with 25 points.
Jackson Strong and
Zachariah Christian each had 19 points and
Leland Green chipped in 14 points. Scott had a game high nine rebounds and added five assists. Leading the way each with two steals were
Rob Lewis and
Leland Green.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State will host Pacific Union this Saturday, November 16 at 7pm in another non-conference game at Lumberjack Arena. The Pioneers are 1-6 entering their game at the Unviersity of the Pacific this Thursday in Stockton.
