ARCATA, Calif.--- Humboldt State outscored its visitors 61-35 in the second half and held them to just 36% shooting in the second half as the Lumberjacks defeated Cal State Los Angeles 93-81. Five players scored in double digits led by
Jackson Strong and
Rob Lewis each with 21 points.
Leland Green chipped in 16 points while
Isaiah Sampson added 11 points and
Zachariah Christian scored 10 points for HSU, who improves to 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in the CCAA.

FIRST HALF: Cal State Los Angeles (3-3, 0-2 CCAA) jumped out to a 7-0 capped by a three by Sean Estes off an assist from Shacquille Dawkins. A made free throw by Sampson cut CSULA's lead to 13-7 five minutes into the game. A lay-up by Michael Ajiboye increased the visitors' lead to 25-15 midway through the first stanza. A three by Strong capped a 5-0 run by the Lumberjacks as the hosts cut CSULA's lead to 25-20, but the visitors took a 35-23 lead on a three by Michael Wright with just 4:45 left in the half. Another three by Estes increased CSULA's lead to 46-30, but a lay-up by Christian cut the guests' lead to 46-32 heading ingot the half.
SECOND HALF: A
Rob Lewis lay-up four minutes into the second half cut the Golden Eagle lead to single digits, 53-44 four minutes into the new half. A three by Strong off a pass from
Amari Green made it a two-possession (57-51) game with 12:45 left in regulation. A lay-up by
Gabrys Sadaunykas cut the Golden Eagle lead to 65-64 with 8:22 on the clock. The Lumberjacks took a 70-67 lead on two free throws by
Leland Green. They increased their lead to 79-74 with just 4:16 to go in the game on a three by Sampson off a pass from
Leland Green. A jumper by Sampson gave HSU an 84-76 lead with a little under three minutes on the clock. A free throw by
Amari Green gave HSU a 91-81 with 33 ticks to go and two free throws by
Leland Green sealed the game for HSU, 93-81.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Rob Lewis had his second double-double this evening by scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He also had two assists and two blocked shots.
34-40: HSU went 34-for-40 from the line this evening.
Leland Green was 12-for-14 while
Jackson Strong and
Rob Lewis each went six-for-six.
Gabrys Sadaunykas was also perfect from the line going two-for-two.
