ARCATA, Calif. – After two weeks on the road, the Humboldt State men's basketball team returns to Lumberjack Arena and host Cal Poly Pomona Thursday before facing Cal State San Bernardino Saturday night. Both games tip off at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday will be HSU Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night as well as Pink Night. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to Thursday's doubleheader and join the Lumberjacks in supporting the battle against cancer. Saturday will be the annual Black Out Night promotion and both teams will sport their black jerseys. Fans are invited to support the teams by wearing black.

The Green and Gold enter the weekend hungry to get back into winning form after suffering close losses to Chico State and Stanislaus State. HSU is 10-1 while playing in front of the Lumberjack faithful, and its 9-7 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association play ranks sixth in the conference. The Jacks will look to climb the conference standings as Cal Poly Pomona currently ranks as the CCAA's third best team while San Bernardino occupies the fifth spot. HSU is currently sixth in the standings with the top eight teams earning a CCAA Tournament berth. The North Coast squad boasts the conference's most efficient offense, scoring 81 points per contest, with a scoring margin of plus 10. Senior forward Justin Everett continues to have a productive season as he leads the Jacks averaging 16 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Cal Poly Pomona is currently riding a seven-game winning streak after beating the No. 16 team in the country in UC San Diego and ending the weekend with a win over Cal State San Marcos. HSU dealt the Broncos a five-point loss in late December in the team's first meeting. Pomona runs a matchup zone defense which has been limiting opponents to a conference-best 62.5 points per contest. Junior guard William Christmas is currently the highest scorer in the CCAA, averaging 16.5 points and a team-best 6.2 rebounds per game.

"Pomona's zone is not only known within the conference and the West Region, but nationally." said Head Coach Steve Kinder, "We've had our chances against Pomona. They have established a reputation of being a defensive team with a specialty in match up zones. If we shoot it well, we'll have open shots and we'll beat them. It all depends on how hot we are."

Cal State San Bernardino won both of its games last week, as it captured victories over Cal State San Marcos and UC San Diego. The Jacks will look to avenge an 83-73 December loss to the Coyotes. San Bernardino will look to sophomore Daytone Jennings to get them going offensively as he leads the Coyotes with 14.7 and 7.9 rebounds per game.
