Men’s Basketball Falls to Cal State Dominguez Hills

CARSON, Calif. – The Humboldt State men's basketball team dropped the first leg of its two-game road trip as it fell to Cal State Dominguez Hills 82-61 Thursday night in the Torodome.

The Toros began the game with a 10-2 run before the Jacks battled back to take a 22-21 lead midway through the half. HSU struggled to close out on 3-point shooters early as Dominguez Hills went 9-for-15 from long range, connecting on 60 percent of its shots. The home team continued to give its shooters quality looks as Dominguez Hills went on a 20-3 run to end the half giving the Toros the 47-30 advantage.

Dominguez Hills scored the first 14 points coming out of the locker room, and the Toros never looked back. The Lumberjacks failed to get into an offensive rhythm as they shot 33.9 percent as a squad.

Trevon Bentley led the Green and Gold with 15 points and five rebounds, while Romario Wilson scored 13 and Amari Green finished with four assists. The Toros had five players finish with double-digit scoring totals as Colten Kresl set the tempo with his 18 points and six assists.

The North Coast squad will look for a more favorable result Saturday as they face Cal State Los Angeles at 3 p.m.
