ARCATA, Calif. –
The Humboldt State men's basketball team prepares for a long road trip this week as they head south to Turlock, Calif., for a game against Stanislaus State. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.

The Lumberjacks enter the week after playing a competitive game versus conference rival Chico State which resulted in a 67-65 victory for the Wildcats. With 5.9 seconds remaining on the clock the Green and Gold had possession and multiple chances to send the game to overtime but eventually came up short. HSU will look to the California Collegiate Athletic Association's top scorer, senior Justin Everett, to help get the Jacks back into the win column. The Clovis, Calif., native averages 16 points and 6.7 boards per game while shooting 52 percent from the field.

The North Coast squad moves to 15-8 overall and holds a 9-6 record in conference, as the Jacks hold on to their No. 4 spot on top the CCAA standings.

Stanislaus State returns to its home court after being on the road last week. The Warriors dropped a game to UC San Diego before wrapping up the weekend with a 74-65 victory over Cal State San Marcos. Stanislaus State currently holds a 9-11 record and has compiled a 6-10 mark against CCAA teams. Senior guard Andy Cleaves leads his team with 15.2 points per game, which is tied for the fourth best average in the conference. Vasilije Saraba has only played 10 games for the Warriors but has given Stanislaus State efficient minutes, averaging 15.3 points and six boards a game.

"Stanislaus is a very good basketball team," said Head Coach Steve Kinder. "They are extremely dangerous, and they have beaten some talented teams as of late. They are a different team than we faced two months ago, and they have three players on their roster that didn't play against us in December. One of their players that played extremely well against us, who finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds, won't be playing this week. It's a very different team so we certainly can't be comfortable or overconfident going into that game."

HSU bested its conference opponent the last time the teams met as the Green and Gold took care of business at home, finishing with an 87-78 victory. Last year, the North Coast squad split a pair of games against Stanislaus State with the Warriors winning the first of the two and the Jacks avenging the loss later in the season.
