ARCATA, Calif. –
The Humboldt State women's basketball team will travel to Turlock this week as it prepares for a game against the Warriors of Stanislaus State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside Fitzpatrick Arena.

Last week, HSU defeated conference rival Chico State 76-72 in a thrilling overtime victory.  Winners of six of their last seven games, the Lumberjacks improved to 12-6 overall with a 10-5 record in conference play. The Green and Gold currently hold the No. 3 spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and have been recognized as the No. 7 team in the latest D2SIDA West Region Poll. Senior forward Isa Conde earned her second CCAA Player of the Week Award Tuesday after her stellar performance versus the Wildcats. The El Dorado Hills native scored 24 points and hauled in a career-best 15 rebounds.

"We felt like we had a great week of practice as we prepared for Chico," said Head Coach Michelle Bento-Jackson. "Their fanbase is tremendous and it was a really fun environment. It felt like a postseason NCAA-type intensity of a game. I'm just really proud of our team, I thought they fought hard from beginning to end. We jumped out to a lead early and then Chico came back, so I thought our girls did a terrific job keeping their composure and staying positive going into overtime. It's always tough to win on the road, let alone in an overtime win, but they found a way to finish out the game."

Following a loss to an undefeated UC San Diego squad, Stanislaus State salvaged its weekend after winning a back and forth matchup 69-64 against Cal State San Marcos Saturday afternoon. The result moves the Warriors to 6-14 overall and they hold a 5-11 record against CCAA opponents. Sophomore forward Kyanna Davis, the Warriors' leading scorer averaging 13.6 points per game, will look to continue to drive Stanislaus State's offensive attack after leading the team with 19 points versus San Marcos.

"We know pretty much what to expect from Stanislaus," said Bento-Jackson. "This is a rough trip, it's a long trip as far as travel goes, and tomorrow is going to be a very long day for us and we just have to stay focused. The stakes are so high right now with every single game and we certainly don't look at that as pressure, but we have to be ready to go. We are prepared for a good Stanislaus team, and we are going to have to give them our best punch in order to pull out a victory on the road."

The Warriors hope to continue their series streak of home dominance and avenge their December loss to the Jacks. Stanislaus State has won the last three meetings against HSU in Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.
