ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State women's basketball team punched its postseason ticket and will host Cal State East Bay in the First Round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The first 400 HSU students in attendance with valid campus ID will receive free admission to Tuesday's game. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the door, and all passes are not valid for postseason contests. Because Tuesday's game is a conference postseason event, only the first 200 HSU students will receive free admission and campus faculty and staff will not get complimentary general admission tickets.

"It's huge to play a First Round game at home," said Head Coach Michelle Bento-Jackson. "I told the girls we've worked all season to put ourselves in this position to be fortunate enough to host. Playing in Lumberjack Arena is a special feeling and we hope the local fans come out and support us."

The Green and Gold earned their berth to the CCAA Tournament over a week ago but learned they will face the Pioneers for the second consecutive postseason Saturday night. HSU ended the regular season with a 76-66 home win over San Francisco State which extended the Jacks' winning streak to eight straight. Alexia Thrower turned in another impressive performance scoring a career-best 34 points against the Gators. The junior from Las Vegas also recorded her conference-leading 15th double-double of the season as she collected 10 rebounds.

East Bay slid into the postseason with back-to-back losses. The Pioneers finished the regular season with a 13-15 overall record and 10-12 mark against conference opponents. Senior Elayshia Woolridge is East Bay's top scorer averaging 11.4 points per game and the talented guard has scored 10 or more points in eight of the last nine games. Woolridge is an attacking guard who can make defenses pay by attacking the basket and scoring buckets in the paint. The senior had a season-high 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting against undefeated and top seed UC San Diego on Saturday.

"We played them earlier in the year at their place, but we have only played them once," said Bento-Jackson. "We know they are a team that is super hungry and playing their best ball at the end of the season."

A victory Tuesday will advance the Jacks to the Semifinals of the CCAA Tournament which is hosted by East Bay Thursday in Pioneer Gymnasium. The winner of Tuesday's matchup will play the team advancing out of the Cal Poly Pomona and Sonoma State matchup.
