Men’s Basketball Signs Guard Joseph Rodrick to Letter of Intent

| By:
ARCATA, Calif. — Joseph Rodrick, a 6-5 guard from Portland, has signed a letter of intent to join the Humboldt State men's basketball team the program announced Tuesday afternoon.

Rodrick is a three-year standout from Cleveland High School where he averaged 17 points, 6.8 rebounds, and three assists per game during his senior campaign. He has established himself as a reliable scorer, converting on 45 percent of his field goal attempts.

"Joseph is an incoming freshman who has all the physical skills and mindset to become a great player at Humboldt State University and in the CCAA," said Head Coach Steve Kinder. "He flat out attacks the basket when he has the ball in his hands. He puts pressure on the opponent's defense and makes plays with creativity. His long frame and dedication to work hard in the offseason will project out into reaching his potential throughout his college basketball career at HSU. Joey will thrive in the transition to the college game and our up-tempo style of play."

Rodrick earned Portland Interscholastic League Second Team All-Conference accolades this past season and was twice tabbed the Portland Tribune Athlete of the Week. He was named to the Oregonian's Top Shooters & Rebounders List and earned an invite to the prestigious Prime Time Top 40 Showcase in Portland.

Rodrick played travel ball for the Salem Hoop led by Head Coach James Johnson.

"I want to start by thanking my family and friends for the unconditional support," said Rodrick. "I would definitely not be in this position if it weren't for them. This was a very tough decision, but I am very excited to join the Lumberjack family and the Arcata/Eureka community. This group coming in and returning players have the potential to make some real noise this year. Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Kinder for giving me this amazing opportunity. I cannot wait to get on campus and get started. Go Jacks."
