ARCATA, Calif.--- The Humboldt State's men's soccer team will end their season beginning five-match road trip this Sunday, September 22 with a noon starting non-conference game in Redding, Calif., against the Simpson University RedHawks. This will be the Lumberjacks' final non-conference match prior to hosting San Francisco State in their CCAA and home opener on Wednesday, September 25 at 3pm.
RECAP OF THE LUMBERJACKS' WEEKEND: Humboldt State went 2-0 in its road trip to Billings, Mont., this past Friday and Sunday afternoon. The Lumberjacks started their weekend with a 2-0 win over the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets with
Marco Silveira and
Isaiah Dairo scoring the two HSU goals.
Gus Baxter assisted on Dairo's goal in the first half.
Robert Quintero had four saves en route to his first shutout of the season.
HSU finished out its weekend with a 5-1 win over the University of Mary on Sunday afternoon as the 'Jacks scored their most goals since 2016. Quintero had eight saves in goal for the 'Jacks. Five different HSU players scored goals in
Isaiah Dairo,
Devin Hauenstein,
Gus Baxter,
Israel Gonzalez and
Ethan Waters. Assisting on those five goals were
Dalton Rice (twice),
Marco Silveira (twice) and
Jacob Hoffman and
Isaiah Dairo as HSU improved to 3-1.
UPDATE ON THE 3-1 LUMBERJACKS: HSU is averaging 3.25 goals a game while the 'Jacks are giving up 1.75 goals a game.
Robert Quintero has a 1.75 goals against average with a .759 saves percentage and 22 saves. He also has one shutout with a 3-1 record.
Isaiah Dairo has scored a team leading four goals, of which is goal in HSU's win over Mary in the tenth second of the match was the quickest goal scored in school history.

UPDATE ON THE REDHAWKS: Simpson University is 2-3 heading into its September 19 road match with William Jessup. The RedHawks' three losses are against Oregon Tech (4-2), Menlo (3-0) and Stanislaus State (3-0). They have wins over Northwest (2-1 in double overtime) and 4-1 over Walla Walla.
Alexis Rodriguez leads the way for Simpson with five goals including two game-winning goals. Liam Bates has a 2.31 goals against average in Simpson's five matches while posting a .657 saves percentage with 23 saves.
Humboldt State leads the all-time series with Simpson 3-0 including defeating the RedHawks 8-0 in Redding, Calif, on September 7, 2007.
CCAA AROUND THE CORNER: Humboldt State will begin CCAA play on Wednesday, September 25 at 3pm as the 'Jacks face San Francisco State in their home opener at College Creek Field on the campus of Humboldt State in Arcata, Calif. HSU will also face Sonoma State on Friday, September 27 at 1:30pm in Rohnert Park.
