CARSON, Calif. --- Humboldt State's volleyball team went 2-0 this afternoon to finish the weekend 2-1 at the Toro Classic in Carson, Calif. The Lumberjacks defeated two PacWest foes in Academy of Art (25-21, 25-18 and 25-16) and Notre Dame de Namur (25-12, 23-25, 18-25, 25-21, 17-15) in their two matches this afternoon at Torodome on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills.
QUOTES FROM COACH WOOD: "I'm pretty proud of the team right now after a hard-fought win in five over Notre Dame de Namur," said Coach
Kelly Wood. "We had offensive balance with contributions from all five attackers.
Lexi Riggs had a great match with 21 kills, 20 digs and .302%.
Summer Hansen and
Hannah Cantrell had 14 and
Emma Flewell and
Malia Coyle chipped with nine and seven. We continue to make too many unforced errors, and make it difficult on ourselves, but we showed some mental toughness by pulling it out in five. We know we have a great of work to do. Overall, I'm proud of the team and their effort this weekend."
