ARCATA, Calif..---  The No. 6 UC San Diego Tritons pulled away from the Humboldt State Lumberjacks in in their 86-70 victory at Lumberjack Arena.  Leland Green paced the Lumberjacks with 20 points off the bench while Isaiah Pope chipped in 15 points.
 
FiRST HALF:  UC San Diego (10-4, 6-3 CCAA) took a 12-4 lead early in the first half on a jumper by Marek Sullivan.  The Tritons increased their lead to 23-9 on a three by Christian Oshita.  A three by Leland Green capped a 9-4 run by the Lumberjacks as they cut their deficit to 27-19.  A jumper by Tyrell Roberts gave UC San Diego a 40-24 lead with four minutes left in the half.  A jumper by Rob Lewis cut the 'Jacks deficit to 42-32 with just 1:43 left in the first stanza.  UC San Diego took a 45-32 lead into the locker room on back to back jumpers by Sullivan.
 
SECOND HALF:  Humboldt State (6-9, 2-8 CCAA) started the second half on a 12-3 run capped by a jumper by Gabrys Sadaunykas to cut the Triton lead to 48-44 in the first six minutes of the new twenty minutes.  Two made throws by Leland Green made it 48-46 UC San Diego, but the Tritons went on a 12-0 run to increase their lead to 60-46 with 10:56 on the clock.  A free throw by Scott Everman made it 70-54 with 6:12 left in regulation.  A three by Isaiah Pope cut the 'Jack deficit to 77-64, but the Tritons took an 86-68 lead on two free throws by Roberts.  A lay-up by Green made the final 86-70.
 
THE BENCH:  Humboldt State outscored UC San Diego's bench 31-9 paced by Leland Green's 20 points.  Rob Lewis added six points and Isaiah Sampson chipped in five points off the bench for HSU.
 
EIGHT TREYS:  The Lumberjacks went eight-for-13 from beyond the arc with Isaiah Pope leading the way going three-for-five.  Leland Green went two-for-three while Isaiah Sampson, Amari Green and Jackson Strong went a combined three-for-six from three-point range.
 
SO CAL NEXT:  Humboldt State will travel to Los Angeles for a pair of CCAA games on January 16 and 18.  The 'Jacks will be at Cal State Dominguez Hills on January 16 at 7:30pm and at Cal State L.A. on January 18 at 3pm.
