ARCATA, Calif..---   Humboldt State Lumberjacks will return to the court this Thursday and Saturday, January 30 and February 1 for a pair of conference games in Southern California.  The Lumberjacks will be in La Jolla this Thursday for an 8pm scheduled game with No. 5 UC San Diego.  They will finish off their week with a 3pm scheduled game on Saturday at Cal State San Marcos.
 
RECAP OF HSU'S LAST GAMES:  The Lumberjacks went 0-2 on their home stand this past weekend in Lumberjack Arena. Humboldt State started the week with a 85-74 loss to Cal State East Bay on Thursday despite 
Zachariah Christian's 20 points.  
Rob Lewis chipped in 15 points while 
Leland Green scored 12 points and 
Arash Poorsina scored 11 points off the bench.  HSU finished the week with a 76-72 loss to Cal State Monterey Bay despite 
Leland Green's game high 20 points.  
Isaiah Pope chipped in 15 points while 
Zachariah Christian scored 12 points for the 'Jacks.
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Humboldt State is 7-12 overall and 3-11 in the CCAA which places the 'Jacks in 12
th place.  They are one game out of 11
th place (Cal State Monterey Bay), two out of 10
th place (San Francisco State) and 2.5 games out of eighth place (Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills).  The top eight teams at the end of the regular season will receive a bid to the CCAA Basketball Championships.
 
HSU is averaging 80.0 points per game while giving up 83.4 points per game.  The Lumberjacks are being out-rebounded 33.5 to 32.2.  Four players are averaging double digits in scoring in 
Leland Green (14.5 ppg), 
Rob Lewis (13.9 ppg), 
Jackson Strong (12.6 ppg) and 
Zachariah Christian (10.9 ppg).  Christian leads HSU with his 5.8 rebounding average, 58.5% shooting from the field and 11 blocked shots.  Strong has a team leading 58 treys while shooting a team best 84.2% from the charity stripe and 41.7% from three-point land.  
Leland Green leads the 'Jacks with his 51 assists while 
Isaiah Pope and 
Amari Green are tied for the team lead each with 18 steals.
 
BALANCED SCORING ATTACK:  In all but two of the Lumberjacks' first 19 games, Humboldt State has had at least three players score in double digits.  The only two games were December 5 at Cal Poly Pomona and January 11 versus No. 6 UC San Diego.  Heading into this weekend, four players are averaging double digits in scoring paced by 
Leland Green's 14.5 scoring average followed by 
Rob Lewis at 13.9, 
Jackson Strong at 12.6 and 
Zachariah Christian at 10.8 ppg.  
Isaiah Pope right behind Christian at 9.6 ppg.
 
MOVIN' ON UP:  Humboldt State's 
Jackson Strong has made 147 three-point field goals in his career as a Lumberjack.  He is currently eighth on HSU's all-time career list. Strong is third in the CCAA in three's per game and free throw percentage while he is fifth in three-point field goal percentage. 
 
ASSIST/TURNOVER RATIO: As a team, Humboldt State has a +1.1 assist to turnover ratio heading into this week.  The Lumberjacks have six players that have dished out more assists than turning the ball over.  The six 'Jacks are 
Leland Green (51 assists, 36 turnovers), 
Jackson Strong (42 assists, 18 turnovers), 
Amari Green (33 assists, 23 turnovers), 
Isaiah Pope (33 assists, 26 turnovers), 
Gabrys Sadaunykas (15 assists, 12 turnovers) and

UPDATE ON THE NO. 5 TRITONS:  UC San Diego enters its week with a 19-1 overall record and a 13-1 CCAA record.  The Tritons lead the CCAA and are 2.5 games ahead of Chico State who are in second place at 10-2 followed by Cal State San Bernardino at 10-3. 
 
UC San Diego is averaging 83.7 points per game while giving up 65.3 points per game.  The Tritons are out-rebounding their opponents 31.6 to 30.3.  Four players are averaging double digits in Chris Hansen (19.1 ppg), Christian Oshita (17.9 ppg), Tyrell Roberts (17.6 ppg) and Scott Everman (10.6 ppg).  Hansen leads the team with his 7.8 rebounding average while Marek Sullivan is shooting a team best 64% from the field.  Oshita leads the team with his 46.4% shooting from three-point land and is tied with Roberts for the team lead each with 64 treys while Roberts is shooting a team leading 93.9% from the line.  Sullivan leads UCSD with his 13 blocked shots and is tied with Mikey Howell with 30 steals.  Howell has dished out a team high 148 assists.
 
Since 2007, Humboldt State leads the all-time series 13-12.  UC San Diego won the first meeting this season 86-70 in Arcata on January 11.

UPDATE ON THE COUGARS:  Cal State San Marcos enters its game on Thursday with Stanislaus State with a 10-10 record and a 6-8 CCAA record.  The Cougars are in seventh place, just one game out of sixth place (Cal State East Bay) and two out of fifth place (Stanislaus State).
 
They are averaging 72.8 points per game while giving up 70.6 points per game.  Cal State San Marcos is being out-rebounded 37.5 to 36.0.  Four players are averaging double digits in Khalil Fuller (12.5 ppg), Blake Seits (12.1 ppg), Marcus Brown (11.3 ppg) and Jayce McCain (10.1 ppg).  Fuller leads the team with his 8.7 rebounding average and 61% shooting from the field while Seits has made a team high 56 treys.  Brown is shooting a team leading 44% from beyond the arc while Seits has connected on a team best 79% from the line.  McCain has dished out a team high 67 assists and recorded a team leading 48 steals.
 
Since 2015, the Cougars lead the all-time series with HSU 5-4 and won the first meeting 76-74 on January 9 in Arcata.
