ARCATA, Calif..--- After going 2-0 at home this past weekend, Humboldt State will look to continue its winning ways on the road in Southern California. The Lumberjacks will be in La Jolla this Thursday, January 30 for a 5:30pm game with UC San Diego. They will continue its week with a 1pm CCAA game at Cal State San Marcos on February 1.
RECAP OF HSU'S LAST GAME: Humboldt State started its week with an 82-78 win over Cal State East Bay behind
Alexia Thrower's 25 points and
Tyra Turner's 23 points.
Molly Dixon added 14 points for the 'Jacks while
Madeline Hatch scored 10 points. They finished the week with an 81-55 win over Cal State Monterey Bay behind
Tyra Turner's 20 points while
Alexia Thrower and
Molly Dixon each chipped in 17 points.
Gabrielle Carbajal recorded her first double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS: Humboldt State enters its two-game road trip with an 11-8 overall record and a 7-7 CCAA record. The Lumberjacks are in eighth place percentage points out of seventh place (Chico State 7-5) and 1.5 game out of sixth place (Cal Poly Pomona). They are two games out of third place (Sonoma State, Cal State East Bay and Stanislaus State).
HSU is averaging 67.9 points per game while giving up 64.0 points per game. The 'Jacks are being out-rebounded 38.1 to 31.9. All five starters are averaging double digits in scoring in
Alexia Thrower (21.1 ppg),
Tyra Turner (10.7 ppg),
Molly Dixon (10.5 ppg),
Madeline Hatch (10.1 ppg) and
Gabrielle Carbajal (10.1 ppg).
Thrower leads the team with her 9.9 rebounding average, 34 steals, 10 blocked shots and 53% shooting from the field. Turner has a team leading 88 assists and shooting a team high 79.3% from the line. Dixon has made a team leading 36 three's while she is tied with Hatch with their 35.6% shooting from beyond the arc.
AMONGST THE CCAA'S LEADERS: In the latest California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) statistics report,
Alexia Thrower is first in scoring, second in rebounding, seventh in steals and ninth in free throw percentage.
Tyra Turner is first in assists, fifth in assist/turnover ratio and sixth in steals.
MOVIN' ON UP: Tyra Turner is moving on up the career lists at Humboldt State. She is second in assists (473), third in steals (215), seventh in free throws made (258) and ninth in points (1060).
Madeline Hatch is ninth with her 132 threes made in her career.
Alexia Thrower has scored 874 points and grabbed 466 rebounds.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Three Lumberjacks have recorded double-doubles this season in
Alexia Thrower,
Tyra Turner and
Gabrielle Carbajal. Thrower has seven double-doubles including one each of the Lumberjacks' last three games while Turner and Carbajal each have one.
11.6:: Humboldt State is just turning the ball over 11.6 times per game while forcing 17.0 turnovers per game by its opponents. The Lumberjacks are recording 7.4 steals per game paced by

Tyra Turner's 31.

TRITONS IN REVIEW: UC San Diego is 15-4 overall and 11-3 in the CCAA, which places them in first place one game ahead of second place Cal State San Marcos and two ahead of Sonoma State, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State East Bay and Stanislaus State.
The Tritons are averaging 69.4 points per game while giving up 60.4 points per game. They are out-rebounding their opponents 37.7 to 37.2. Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in Julia Macabuhay (18.4 ppg),
Tyla Turner (11.2 ppg) and Sydney Sharp (10.3 ppg). Macabuhay leads UC San Diego with her 49% shooting from the field, 43% shooting from three's and 20 steals. Sharp leads the Tritons with her 41 treys, 90% shooting from the line and 7.2 rebounding average. Sydney Brown has a team high 13 blocked shots and Brianna Claros has a team high 47 assists.
UC San Diego leads the all-time series with HSU 19-10 since 2008. The Tritons defeated HSU 88-82 on January 11 in Arcata behind Macabuhay's 24 points.

COUGARS IN REVIEW: Cal State San Marcos is 15-4 overall and 10-4 in the CCAA, which places them in second place just one game behind UC San Diego. The Cougars are averaging 63.5 points per game while giving up 56.5 points per game. They are out-rebounding their opponents 36 to 33.8. Jon'Nae Vermillion leads the way with her 12.4 scoring average followed by Emma Forel at 11.8, Akayla Hackson at 10.6 ppg and Dynnah Buckner at 10.0. Forel leads CSUSM with her 9.2 rebounding average, 24 steals and 60% shooting from the line. Stephanie Custodio has a team leading 67 assists while Forrester leads CSUSM with her 91% shooting from the line, 44% shooting from treys and 34 three's.
Since 2015, the Cougars leads the all-time series 5-4 as they won 59-56 in overtime in Arcata on January 9. Forel paced CSUSM with her 16 points, 11 rebounds while
Alexia Thrower paced HSU with 23 points and 16 rebounds.
