SAN FRANCISCO, Calif..--- Humboldt State outscored the San Francisco State Gators 22-6 which propelled the Lumberjacks to an 81-45 road victory. The Lumberjacks had four players in double digits paced by
Alexia Thrower and
Molly Dixon each with 19 points while
Gabrielle Carbajal chipped in 12 points.
Tyra Turner added 10 points, nine steals and six assists with no turnovers for the 'Jacks.
FIRST QUARTER: San Francisco State (1-20, 1-17 CCAA) took a 4-2 lead in the first three and half minutes of the quarter, but the Lumberjacks went on a 14-0 run capped by a
Tyra Turner lay-up off an assist from
Gabrielle Carbajal. The Gators made two free throws at the 1:47 mark of the quarter and HSU finished the quarter on a 6-0 run capped by a lay-up by
Alexia Thrower off a pass from
Sandin Kidder to give the 'Jacks a 22-6 lead heading into the second quarter
SECOND QUARTER: The Gators started the second quarter outscoring their visitors 9-8 to cut the deficit to 30-15 mid-way through the quarter. They cut the deficit to 35-23 with just 19 seconds left in the half, but
Madeline Hatch gave HSU a 37-23 lead with lay-up heading into the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER: Once again, SFSU cut the HSU lead to 43-30 mid-way through the third quarter. The 'Jacks went on a 13-2 run capped by a
Gabrielle Carbajal lay-up off an assist from
Tyra Turner to take a 56-32 lead. A three by
Molly Dixon increased the 'Jack lead to 59-32. A Muirae Gomez lay-up cut the 'Jack lead to 59-34 heading into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: Humboldt State (14-10, 10-9 CCAA) took a 65-38 lead just three minutes into the final quarter on a
Sandin Kidder lay-up. HSU increased its lead to 76-40 on a
Jasmine Reupenny lay-up with just 3:04 left in the game. An old-fashioned three-point play by
Molly Dixon gave HSU the 81-45 victory.
JUST THREE AWAY: Alexia Thrower is just three points away from becoming the ninth HSU women's basketball player of scoring 1,000 points in her career. She will join teammate
Tyra Turner on the 1,000 point club member.
