SEASIDE, Calif..--- Cal State Monterey Bay held off two late inning rallies by the visiting Humboldt State Lumberjacks to key the Otters' sweep, 9-8 and 15-8. In game one,
Adriana Chavez had three of HSU's 11 hits and drove in two runs. Then in the night cap,
Katelyn Dendas and
Mariah Kalamaras each drove in two runs to lead the way for the 'Jacks.
GAME ONE: The hosts took a 4-0 on a two-out grand slam home run by Jamie Sugimoto in the bottom of the first inning. HSU cut the Otter lead to 4-1 when
Micaela Harris had a lead-off triple and scored when
Haley Suter drove in on a ground out to second base. The Otters increased their lead to 6-1 with a two-run second inning. They added two more runs in the fourth when CSUMB scored two more runs to take an 8-1 lead.
The Lumberjacks did not go away as they erupted for seven runs in their half of the fifth inning.
Adriana Chavez had a lead-off single and went to second on a one-out single by
Katelyn Dendas.
Danica Grier walked to load the bases. Harris drove in Chavez with a run scoring single and
Mariah Kalamaras drove in Dendas and Grier with a single of her own.
Suter doubled home Harris to cut the lead to 8-5. Kalamaras scored on an
Anna Brondos sacrifice fly. With two outs,
Jenna Sobrero singled to put runners on first and third. Chavez tied the game at 8-8 with a two-run double to bring in Suter and Sobrero.
Cal State Monterey Bay retook the lead on a run scoring two-out single by Hayley Fein in the bottom of the fifth. The Otters shut down the Lumberjacks in the final two innings to take the opener 9-8.

Haley Suter each drove in two runs.
Taylor Culp (0-2) suffered the loss in relief for the 'Jacks.
Jamie Sugimoto had five runs batted in for the Otters while scoring twice. Hayley Fein drove in three runs for CSUMB. Britney Lopez picked up the win for the Otters (8-4, 4-4 CCAA).
GAME TWO: Cal State Monterey Bay jumped out to a 12-0 lead after the first inning. Hayley Fein hit a three-run home run to end the scoring for the Otters in their frame of the first inning. Humboldt State scored three runs in its half of the third keyed by a two-run double by
Katelyn Dendas.
HSU (3-8, 2-6 CCAA) kept the momentum as the 'Jacks cut the deficit to 12-6 with a three-run fourth inning. The Otters came right back and increased their lead to 15-6 with a three-run fourth inning. Once again, the 'Jacks cut the lead to just six runs, this time cutting the lead to 15-9.
That's the closest the visitors would get as the hosts the night cap 15-9

Mariah Kalamaras drove in two runs while Harris, Grier and
Adriana Chavez each scored two runs.
Megan Holt suffered the loss for the 'Jacks.
Hayley Fein drove in four runs and had two hits while Michaela Decker drove in three runs as did Nadya Orozco.
