ARCATA, Calif..--- After starting their season with an 11-game road trip, Humboldt State will host No. 20 Chico State this weekend in a four-game series at HSU Softball Field. Game times are noon at 2pm for the doubleheader this Friday, February 21. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, February 22. Game times on Saturday ae 11am and 1pm.
LAST WEEK: Humboldt State went 0-4 in its four-game series at Cal State Monterey Bay losing 9-7, 6-2, 9-8 and 15-9. As a team, the Lumberjacks batted .300 against the Otters with Michaela Harris hit a team high .467. Three Other players hit over .300 in Adrian Chavez (.385),
Katelyn Dendas (.333) and
Danica Grier (.308).
Mariah Kalamaras drove in a team leading six runs while Harris drove in five. Grier and Harris each scored a team high five runs with Harris having seen of HSU's 36 hits. Lexee Sheering struck out five Otters while
Taylor Culp and
Megan Holt each had three strikeouts.
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS: Humboldt State is 3-8 overall and 2-6 in the CCAA. As a team, the Lumberjacks are hitting .312 with five players hitting over .300 in
Micaela Harris (.429),
Haley Suter (.375),
Lauren Lipe (.357),
Mariah Kalamaras (.333) and
Danica Grier (.313). Four players lead the team each with 11 runs scored in Harris, Suter, Lipe and Grier. Harris also leads the team with her 15 hits, two triples and six stolen bases. Suter, Kalamaras along with her
Mariah Tovar lead the team with their three doubles. Suter and
Katelyn Dendas each have hit a team leading two home runs. Suter has driven in a team high 13 runs while posting a team leading .656 slugging percentage. Lipe leads the team with her .526 on-base percentage.
UPDATE ON THE NO. 20 WILDCATS: Chico State is 9-0 overall and 4-0 in the CCAA after sweeping the four-game series from Cal State Monterey Bay, Feb. 7-8. The Wildcats also have defeated Azusa Pacific (3-2), Western Washington (6-2), No. 10 Concordia-Irvine (4-0), Biola (2-1) and Hawaii Pacific (7-0).
They are batting .283 as a team with their opponents hitting .140. Drew Rodriguez leads the team with her .476 average with three other players hitting over .375 in Kristin Worley (.417), Alani Nguyen (.375) and Rachael Atkins (.375). Worley leads the team with four doubles and 10 runs scored while Nguyen has driven in a team high eight runs. Brooke Larsen is 5-0 in the circle and Sam Mulock is 4-0. Larsen has posted a team low 0.57 earned run average. She also leads the team with her 37 strikeouts.
