ARCATA, Calif.--- Humboldt State shot 60% from the field to key its 107-62 CCAA victory over the visiting Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes this evening in a CCAA game at Lumberjack Arena. Two Lumberjacks recorded double-doubles in
Alexia Thrower with 26 points and 12 rebounds while
Sandin Kidder had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
FIRST QUARTER: The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 6-2 lead to begin the quarter capped by a
Madeline Hatch three off a pass from
Tyra Turner. Cal State San Bernardino (3-17, 3-14 CCAA) outscored the 'Jacks 7-3 to take tie the game at 9-9 with four minutes left in the quarter. Humboldt State finished the quarter on a 10-2 run capped by back to back lay-ups by
Gabrielle Carbajal and
Tyra Turner to take a 19-11 lead.
SECOND QUARTER: Humboldt State continued its run as the hosts took a 24-11 lead on a jumper by
Madeline Hatch.
Sandin Kidder scored seven straight points for the 'Jacks as they increased their lead to 42-19. Three consecutive three's by Hatch (two) and
Gabrielle Carbajal gave HSU a 53-21 lead with one minute left in the half. A jumper by Ashynn Jumper made the score 55-26 heading into the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER: A lay-up by
Alexia Thrower gave HSU a 67-29 lead just three minutes into the third quarter. HSU kept it going as the 'Jacks took a 72-34 lead on a trey by Thrower off a pass from
Madeline Hatch. The Coyotes cut the HSU lead to 80-41, but a jumper by
Emily Packham and
Jasmine Reupenny gave the hosts an 84-41 lead heading into the last quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: A trey by
Emily Packham increased the Lumberjacks lead to 87-41 three minutes into the final quarter. Cal State San Bernardino made it 101-62 with 90 seconds to go in the game, but back to back treys by Packham gave HSU the 107-62 victory.
BACK IN THE PLAY-OFF HUNT: With its two victories this past weekend, Humboldt State is back in the play-off hunt for the eight-team CCAA Basketball Championships. The 'Jacks are in seventh place, just .056 percentage points behind seventh place Sonoma State.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Two Lumberjacks recorded double-doubles in
Alexia Thrower and
Sandin Kidder. Thrower scored 26 points and grabbed 12 regbounds while Kidder had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
CAREER HIGHS: Both
Sandin Kidder and
Emily Packham recorded double-doubles this evening in
Sandin Kidder (18 points) and
Emily Packham (11 points).
52.8% FROM TREYS: Humboldt State went 19-for-36 from three-point land paced by
Madeline Hatch who went six-for-13 while two players went a combined five-for-five in
Emily Packham and
Sandin Kidder.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State will now begin a three-game road trip commencing with two games in the Bay Area next weekend. HSU will be at SF State on February 13 and Sonoma State on February 15.
