ARCATA, Calif--- Humboldt State will be back on the road this weekend for a pair of conference road games. The Lumberjacks' road trip will begin this Thursday, January 20 in Hayward, Calif., for a 5:30pm scheduled contest with Cal State East Bay. The two-game road trip will conclude in Carson, Calif., this Saturday, January 22 for a 1pm scheduled tip-off with Cal State Dominguez Hills.
COACHING STAFF: The 'Jacks are coached by sixth-year head coach
Michelle Bento-Jackson. Coach Bento-Jackson is 220-195 in her sixteen years as a head coach. During those 16 years, she also has had four losing seasons including just one at Humboldt State. Prior to being the head coach at HSU, Bento-Jackson was the head coach at Santa Clara and Texas A&M-International. She is assisted by Humboldt State Alum and former Lumberjack men's basketball player Guillermo Blas.
LAST TIME ON THE COURT: The 'Jacks went 0-2 in their two-game home stand this past weekend. Humboldt State started the weekend with a 63-51 loss to Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday evening.
Madison Parry and
Julia Iman combined for 29 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocked shots. On Saturday, HSU lost a heartbreaking 89-89 double overtime game with Cal Poly Pomona.
Kaz Parks paced HSU with a season high 21 points going five-for-ten in her attempts from beyond the arc.
Madison Parry chipped in 19 points and nine rebounds.
Jadence Clifton had a season high 10 points while dishing out a season high six assists with just one turnover in 36 minutes.
UPDATE ON THE 'JACKS: Humboldt State enters this weekend with a 4-7 overall record including a 3-5 CCAA record. The 'Jacks are averaging 63.6 points per game while giving up 64.6 points per game. They are being out-rebounded 40.4 to 38.2. Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in
Madison Parry (15.2 ppg),
Julia Iman (15.1 ppg) and
Kaz Parks (11.6 ppg). Iman leads the team with her 33 assists, 9.9 rebounding average, 44.4% shooting from the field, seven blocked shots and 19 steals. Parry has made a team leading 78.4% of her attempts from the charity stripe. Parks leads HSU with her 28 three's made and 31.9% shooting from beyond the arc.
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Three Lumberjacks have recorded double-doubles this season in
Julia Iman,
Madison Parry and
Sharon Roldan. Iman has five double-doubles including one in each of the Lumberjacks' last four games. Parry has three double-doubles and Roldan one.
OVERTIME GAMES: Humboldt State is 1-1 in overtime games this year. The 'Jacks defeated Chico State 105-96 in Chico on Dec. 18, 2021 in triple overtime. They then lost 89-80 in double overtime on Jan. 15, 2022.
CCAA/NCAA RANKINGS: As a team, the 'Jacks are fourth in the conference in three's made per game while they are fifth in three-point field goal percentage and assist/turnover ratio. HSU is also sixth in scoring margin and field goal percentage defense. Four players are in the top ten in nine statistical categories in

Iman is second in rebounding, fifth in field goal percentage and assist/turnover ratio and sixth in scoring and free throw percentage. Parry is fifth in scoring and sixth in rebounding while Parks is fourth in three's made per game and seventh in three-point field goal percentage. Peralta is ninth in assists.
REGION MATCH-UP: All four non-conference games for the 'Jacks were against NCAA Division II West Region opponents which are very important for rankings. HSU lost its first two games of the season against two Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents in Western Washington (68-56) and Seattle Pacific (54-52) in Seattle, Wash. The 'Jacks went 1-1 against Dominican, who is a member of the PacWest Conference. They lost 72-70 in San Rafael to the Penguins and defeated them 66-49 in Arcata. The CCAA, GNAC and PacWest Conferences are all members of the NCAA Division II West Region.
CCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN LUMBERJACK ARENA: Humboldt State will host the 2021-22 CCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, March 3-5 at Lumberjack Arena. The top six teams will receive a berth to the CCAA Championships. March 3 will be the quarterfinal round with the top two seeds receiving a bye. The semi-final round games are set for March 4 with the championship game set for March 5. The winner of the CCAA Championships will receive the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Championships.
CAL STATE EAST BAY: The Pioneers are 11-1 overall and 6-0 in the CCAA. They have won ten games in a row since losing 68-55 to Central Washington on Nov. 13, 2021. Cal State East Bay defeated San Francisco State 74-51 this past Saturday in San Francisco in its first game since Dec. 18, 2021. The Pioneers are averaging 66.8 points per game while giving up 54.3 points per game. They are out-rebounding their opponents 43.9 to 33.6. Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in Madison Schiller (13.1 ppg), Delia Moore (13.1 ppg) and Mina Tameliau (10.8 ppg). Schiller leads the team with her 47.1% shooting from three-point range and 83.3% shooting from the line. Moore has made a team high 27 three-point field goals and is shooting a team leading 35.1% from three-point range. She also has dished out a team high 34 assists. Tameliau leads the team with her six blocked shots and 5.7 rebounding average. Zhane Duckett has recorded a team high 26 steals while Abigail Cooper is shooting a team best 47.5% from the field.
ALL-TIME SERIES (HSU vs. CSUEB): Cal State East Bay leads the all-time series with the 'Jacks 12-11, but the two teams have split the last four meetings. Humboldt State won 82-78 in Arcata on Jan. 23, 2020 and Cal State East Bay won 59-58 in Hayward on Dec. 14, 2019.
CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS: The Toros are 5-8 overall and 3-4 in the CCAA. They went 1-1 in their two games last weekend. They lost 59-57 at San Francisco State, but defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 73-46. CSU Dominguez Hills is averaging 74.5 points per game while giving up 64.8 points per game. The Toros are out-rebounding their opponents 42.9 to 38.8. Two players are averaging double digits in scoring in Asia Jordan (14.7 ppg) and Auren Isaacson (13.5 ppg). Jordan leads the team with her 52.4% shooting from the field and 8.8 rebounding average. Isaacson has made a team high 36 three's and a team leading 95.8% of her attempts from the charity stripe. Deejanae Poland leads CSUDH with her 34 assists and 11 blocked shots while Danyell Booker has a team leading 33 steals.
ALL-TIME SERIES (HSU vs. CSUDH): The 'Jacks lead all-time series with Cal State Dominguez Hills 18-8. HSU won six of the last seven meetings but lost the last game 64-58 on Jan. 16, 2020 in Carson. HSU last defeated the Toros 76-66 on Feb. 21, 2019 in Arcata.
