Box Score ARCATA, CALIF.---Cal Poly Humboldt swept the season series from Chico State with a total team victory this evening at Lumberjack Arena. The 'Jacks defeated Chico State 69-58 behind
Jadence Clifton's season high 24 points and 8 rebounds.
Madison Parry recorded her fourth double-double with a 13-point, 13-rebound performance while
Ashley Peralta added 13 points and
Kaz Parks chipped in 10 points.
FIRST QUARTER: A
Madison Parry second chance point in the paint gave Cal Poly Humboldt (5-9, 4-6 CCAA) a 12-7 lead mid-way through the first quarter. The 'Jacks increased their lead to 16-7 with three minutes left in the quarter on two made free throws by
Jadence Clifton. A three by Morgan Mathis cut the Wildcat deficit to 16-13, but Humboldt finished the quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 21-13 lead into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: A
Kaz Parks three off a pass from
Ashley Peralta increased the 'Jacks lead to 26-15 just three minutes into the second quarter. Chico State (7-7, 4-5 CCAA) cut the 'Jack lead to 32-25 with three minutes left in the half. Humboldt went on a 6-0 run to increase its lead to 38-25 on a lay-up by
Jadence Clifton. Chico State came right back and cut the deficit to 38-29 late in the quarter, but an
Ashley Peralta lay-up gave Humboldt a 40-29 lead heading into the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER: An old-fashioned three-point play by
Jadence Clifton increased the hosts' lead to 45-33 with 7:28 left in the quarter. The Wildcats outscored the 'Jacks 9-2 in the next four minutes to cut into the Humboldt lead (47-42). Humboldt outscored Chico 7-2 in the final minutes of the quarter to take a 54-44 lead into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: Chico didn't go away as the Wildcats started the final quarter with a 9-3 run to cut the 'Jack lead to 57-53 in the first two minutes of the quarter. A three by
Ashley Peralta off a pass from
Madison Parry capped an 8-0 run by the hosts as they took a 65-53 lead mid-way through the final quarter. Parry's lay-up off a pass from
Jadence Clifton gave Humboldt a 69-55 late in the quarter. India Starr's three made the final, Humboldt 69-58.
ANOTHER CAREER HIGH: Jadence Clifton had another career night. Cilfton finished with a career high 24 points off a 7-for-12 shooting from the field including going two-for-two from three-point land and eight-for-nine from the line. The freshman guard also had a season high eight rebounds with a season high two steals.
NUMBER FOUR: Madison Parry recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. She went five-for-ten from the field and three-for-five from the line. She also had two assists and a steal.
DOMINATE ON THE BOARDS: Humboldt controlled the boards with a 40-22 advantage.
Madison Parry had 13 rebounds while
Citlaly Davalos had a season high nine rebounds
Jadence Clifton also had a career high with eight rebounds.
Kaz Parks and
Ashley Peralta each had four and
Sharon Roldan had two.
UP NEXT: Cal Poly Humboldt will host Stanislaus State this Saturday, January 29 at 5:30pm. The Warriors didn't play this evening. Stanislaus State defeated the 'Jacks 51-46 in Turlock back in December.
