ARCATA, Calif--- After going 2-0 in their two-game home stand with Chico State and Stanislaus State, the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks will look continue their winning ways this week on the road in the CCAA. The 'Jacks will be in Seaside, Calif., for a 5:30pm scheduled conference game with Cal State Monterey Bay this Thursday, February 3. They will end their two-game road trip this Saturday, February 5 with a 1pm starting CCAA game in San Francisco against San Francisco State.
COACHING STAFF: The 'Jacks are coached by sixth-year head coach
Michelle Bento-Jackson. Coach Bento-Jackson is 222-197 in her sixteen years as a head coach. During those 16 years, she also has had four losing seasons including just one at Humboldt State. Prior to being the head coach at HSU, Bento-Jackson was the head coach at Santa Clara and Texas A&M-International. She is assisted by Humboldt State Alum and former Lumberjack men's basketball player Guillermo Blas.
LAST TIME ON THE COURT: The 'Jacks went 2-0 last week in Lumberjack Arena. They started the weekend with a 69-58 win over rival Chico State on Thursday. With the win, the 'Jacks swept the season series from the Wildcats.
Jadence Clifton paced Humboldt with a game high 24 points while
Madison Parry recorded her fourth double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Also scoring in double digits were
Ashley Peralta (13 points) and
Kaz Parks (10 points). Humboldt finished the week with a 61-45 win over Stanislaus State on Saturday. Three players recorded double-doubles in Parry, Clifton and
Citlaly Davalos. Parry had her fifth double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Davalos had her first double-double in a 'Jack uniform with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Clifton recorded her first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 assists.
UPDATE ON THE 'JACKS: Cal Poly Humboldt enters this weekend's road trip with a 6-9 overall record including a 5-6 CCAA record. The 'Jacks are averaging 62.9 points per game while giving up 64.0 points per game. They are being out-rebounded 38.9 to 37.1.
Madison Parry leads the way with her 15.1 scoring average followed by
Julia Iman at 14.9 and
Kaz Parks at 10.3.
Julia Iman is averaging a team high 9.4 rebounds per game, 23 steals and 45.3% shooting from the field. Parry leads the team with her 12 blocked shots, 43.2% shooting from the field and 74.6% shooting from the line.
Kaz Parks has made a team high 34 three-point field goals while
Jadence Clifton has connected on a team leading 38.5% of her attempts from beyond the arc. Clifton also has 33 assists to lead the team.
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Five Lumberjacks have recorded double-doubles this season in

Madison Parry,
Sharon Roldan,
Jadence Clifton and
Citlaly Davalos. Parry and Iman each have five double-doubles while Roldan, Clifton and Davalos each have one.
OVERTIME GAMES: Cal Poly Humboldt is 1-1 in overtime games this year. The 'Jacks defeated Chico State 105-96 in Chico on Dec. 18, 2021 in triple overtime. They then lost 89-80 in double overtime on Jan. 15, 2022.
JUST HALF-GAME OUT: The Lumberjacks are just a half-game out of the sixth and final spot for the six-team CCAA Basketball Championships, March 3-5, at Lumberjack Arena in Arcata. Humboldt is tied for seventh place with Sonoma State each with a 5-6 record. Heading into the final eight games of the regular season, the top six teams are: 1.) Cal State East Bay (10-0); 2.) Cal State San Marcos (11-1); 3.) Stanislaus State (6-3); 4.) Cal State Dominguez Hills (7-4); 5.) Cal State Los Angeles (6-5) and 6.) Chico State (5-5). The top six teams at the end of the regular season will receive a bid to the CCAA Basketball Championships.
CCAA/NCAA RANKINGS: In the recent CCAA statistics report, Humboldt is in the top ten in six team categories. The 'Jacks are fourth in three-point field goals made per game (7.3), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (+0.81), and sixth in scoring defense (64.0 ppg), three-point field goal percentage defense (28.8%), field goal percentage defense (38.2%) and free throw percentage (68%).
Three players are in the top ten in seven individual categories in
Madison Parry,
Julia Iman and
Kaz Parks. Parry is third in blocked shots per game (0.8), fourth in scoring (15.1 ppg), fifth in rebounding (8.7 rpg) and sixth in field goal percentage (43.2%). Iman is second in rebounding (9.4 rpg) and fifth in scoring (14.9 ppg) and field goal percentage (45.3%). Parks is fourth in three-point field goals made per game (2.4) and sixth in three-point field goal percentage (31.5%).
Parks is also 46
th in the nation in three-point field goals made per game.
REGION MATCH-UP: All four non-conference games for the 'Jacks were against NCAA Division II West Region opponents which are very important for rankings. HSU lost its first two games of the season against two Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents in Western Washington (68-56) and Seattle Pacific (54-52) in Seattle, Wash. The 'Jacks went 1-1 against Dominican, who is a member of the PacWest Conference. They lost 72-70 in San Rafael to the Penguins and defeated them 66-49 in Arcata. The CCAA, GNAC and PacWest Conferences are all members of the NCAA Division II West Region.
CCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN LUMBERJACK ARENA: Humboldt State will host the 2021-22 CCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Championships, March 3-5 at Lumberjack Arena. The top six teams will receive a berth to the CCAA Championships. March 3 will be the quarterfinal round with the top two seeds receiving a bye. The semi-final round games are set for March 4 with the championship game set for March 5. The winner of the CCAA Championships will receive the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Championships.
CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY: The Otters are 1-12 overall and 0-9 in the CCAA heading into their game on Thursday with the 'Jacks. They are averaging 52.2 points per game while giving up 66.8 points per game. CSUMB is out-rebounding their opponents 38 to 32.3. Two players are averaging double digits in scoring in Lauryn Pointer (13.8 ppg) and Emily Perez (10.2 ppg). Pointer leads the team with her 87% shooting from the charity stripe while Perez has a team leading 27 assists and 16 steals. Sarah Shaw leads CSUMB with her 6.1 rebounding average. Frances Pott has connected on a team high 34.6% of her attempts from beyond the arc. Rayshanti McNeal leads CSUMB with her 53.5% shooting from the field and Pointer has made a team high 16 three-point field goals.
ALL-TIME SERIES (HUMBOLDT vs. CSUMB): Humboldt leads the all-time series with CSUMB 18-11. The 'Jacks have won six of the last seven meetings including 65-59 this past December.

SAN FRANCISCO STATE: Entering their home game with Sonoma State on Thursday, the Gators are 6-11 overall and 4-9 in the CCAA. They are averaging 60.4 points per game while giving up 66.1 points per game. SF State is also being out-rebounded 42.3 to 34.3. Mya Blake leads the way with her 12.2 scoring average while Jolene Armendariz is averaging a team high 6.6 rebounds per game. Muirae Gomez leads SF State with her 43.5% shooting from the field while Alexsandra Alvarado has a team high 38 assists. Gomez leads the Gators with her eight blocked shots and Armendariz has made a team leading 31 three-point field goals. Alvarado also leads SF State with her 75% shooting from the line while Armendariz has a team high 35 steals.
