Season Highs Can't Tame Cougars in Five-Setter on Thursday

SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- On Thursday evening, Cal Poly Humboldt started their final road trip of the season with a stop at Cal State San Marcos. After the Lumberjacks claimed the first set 25-21, the Cougars of San Marcos responded by taking sets two (25-21) and three (25-19). The Jacks found themselves with their backs against the wall and down 23-19 before going on a 6-0 run to close out set four with a final score of 25-23. Although Humboldt forced a fifth set, the Cougars scrapped a 15-4 victory and won the match three sets to two.

Lindsey McLaughlin led all players with a season-high 18 kills. She also added three blocks on the defensive side of the ball. Mina Barajas recorded her first double-double of the season, notching 13 kills and 12 digs. Cecillia Costa had seven total blocks (two solo), which is the most any Lumberjack has had in a single match all season.
